Rock The Kasbah

Rock the Kasbah is a gala fundraiser that Richard Branson's foundation, Virgin Unite, holds regularly in Los Angeles, usually in November. In 2011, we focused on building opportunity for youth in America who face unprecedented unemployment.

This is a special family affair. Inspired by the opportunity to create a better future for young people, we like to bring the Virgin companies, outside businesses, entrepreneurs, artists and celebrities together for an evening of dinner and music to rally support for some powerful programs. The proceeds go to create opportunities for vulnerable young people in the US and to Richard Branson’s mother’s organization, The Eve Branson Foundation. They do amazing things in Morocco empowering young women in villages with the tools and skills to improve their own lives. More on the causes here >

Rock the Kasbah is all about this kind of innovation, and it will launch Richard and Virgin Unite’s campaign in America next year to create a global network of entrepreneurship and new opportunity. Give opportunity here >

There are a number of ways to get involved, from simply purchasing a ticket, to becoming the title sponsor. Those who are committed to using business as a force for good will receive prominent placement throughout the event and mentions from the stage and in all materials, media opportunities (including with Richard) and more.

Beyond that, the night will be amazing! Richard himself calls this one of the best parties he's ever been to. Here's why:

The Entertainment

The 2011 Rock the Kasbah was very proud to host 9-Grammy Award winner Mary J. Blige, who performed a "sneak peek" of her new album "My Life II... The Journey Continues (Act I)"! With 50 million albums sold, she obviously brought down the house! Also performing were the incredible O.A.R. and The Pussycat Dolls Burlesque Review. To top it all off, celebrity DJ Chris Holmes (ashtar command) kept the music going all night!

In 2010 guests enjoyed performances by Grammy Award Winners Colbie Caillat, Common, Robin Thicke and Sam Branson and his band Delilah.

Prior galas have features performances by: Estelle, Gavin Rossdale, Natasha Bedingfield, Jewel, Natalie Imbruglia, Elvis Costello, Criss Angel, Kelly Rowland, Dita Von Teese and others.

The Auctions

In past years, guests have bid on spectacular auction items, including the opportunity to name one of Virgin America’s brand new Airbus A320 aircraft, a trip with Richard to visit Virgin Unite programs in South Africa and the opportunity to visit the set of multi-award winning television phenomenon Glee. The Location

The most recent Rock the Kasbah was held at Los Angeles' chic Boulevard3 on the Sunset Strip:

Our preferred hotel for 2011 was Mr C in Bevery Hills, which offered Virgin guests a great deal.
